Dear Friends, Band Parents and Fellow Alumni,

As with many of the brightest stars, it is often not until their light is extinguished that we fully realize the impact they have had upon our lives, and so it was with George... George’s leadership inspired thousands of us in many different ways throughout his life. Whether through the Drum Major Academy, the UMass Minuteman Marching Band, Reading Buccaneers, Bands of America, and/or perhaps through one of his many clinics or performances; he always left us wanting more. His passion, vision, and tireless devotion to his craft was contagious as well as a source of great inspiration.

George’s legacy is very much alive and will continue to ripple out into the world for years to come. It is our sincere hope that this calendar connects you to some of your own cherished memories. With proceeds from the sale of this calendar, we will continue to build upon George’s legacy by establishing the George N. Parks Drum Major Scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded to a Drum Major at the University of Massachusetts who displays outstanding leadership characteristics and a commitment to excellence both on and off the field.

Thank you in advance for your commitment and generosity. Together, we can make a difference andcontinue to preserve the legacy of George N. Parks.

With Pride,
Jeff Poulton  '87, Drum Major '82-'87
Linda Hannum '82, Drum major '80 - '82
