Amanda Woolley of Point Pleasant, N.J., is a Music Education major and a Psychology minor.  Last year her superb record as both scholar and musician earned her the Theodore Presser Award, a highly prestigious national honor and just one of many awards she has received.  As Drum Major of the Minuteman Marching Band, Woolley led 300 students with a minimum of friction and a maximum of inspiration and good will.  Her passionate belief in music’s power to promote social good was reflected in her honors thesis on instrumental music programs in urban high schools and in her volunteering at schools in Springfield, Mass., and New York City.  As campus campaign coordinator for Teach for America, Woolley has raised awareness of national educational inequities and recruited students to teach in low-income neighborhoods.  She plans to teach in urban schools for several years before pursuing advanced degrees in music education and administration.
